My Story In March of 2010, I was searching for a birthday gift for my precious grandmother. I was tired of giving her the usual scarves or perfumes or knick-knacks, and wanted to find something unique and memorable, and most of all, something she’d really enjoy. I’d seen people bandying about the name “Scentsy” on Facebook, but had never checked into it, and wasn’t even sure what it was. Now, in my eagerness to find a great gift for Grandma, I decided to look it up and see if it might fit the bill. I found the Scentsy website and quickly became addicted! I couldn't stop turning the pages and reading the scent descriptions in the online catalog. I was positively mesmerized, and soon found MYSELF in love with a product I had never even seen, smelled, or touched! I was quite excited at the prospect of sharing this magnificent gift with Grandma AND getting my own house smelling Scent-sational! Near the back of the online catalog, I found information about joining the Scentsy team. A few years prior, I had joined another direct sales cosmetics company, and in short order discovered that company was just not a good "fit" for me. I had put a great deal of blood, sweat, and tears into trying to make that business work, but it seemed like the harder I tried, the less it DID work, and the more defeated I felt. As a result of that experience, I was not AT ALL interested in selling Scentsy! I was, however, very interested in all the items that were shown in the picture of the Scentsy Starter Kit. I told myself, “Wow, look at all the products I get with the starter kit! Even if I don't sell one thing, I can still use those items in my own home." So, being the candle junkie that I was, I decided I would join, with no plans of actively selling this product. Thus began my search for a consultant in my area. I found five listed, and called them all, but was unable to reach anyone, and never got a single call back. So I reached out to Facebook. I found a Scentsy page and commented that I was interested in the product and couldn't get in touch with a representative in my area, and I soon found a lady who was willing to come share Scentsy with me. (I did not mention the fact that I wanted to join, as I wanted to actually see and smell the product first.) In the meantime, I did LOTS of research on the product, the company, the history, as well as the goals and objectives of the company. By the time my consultant arrived at my home, I had already decided I wanted to be part of this, and I signed up within 20 minutes of her arrival! The weekend after getting my kit, my family and I took a trip to the surprise birthday party that had been arranged for my grandmother. I took my kit with me to share with my mom – a fellow candle junkie – and I was AMAZED at the interest and response of EVERYONE who smelled it! I left Amarillo with over $600.00 in orders, with very little effort! Wow, that was easy! Next, I called a dear friend in Dallas who wanted to order, and as soon as she opened her package, she, too, was in love with a product she had never seen, smelled, touched, or even heard of before. She called me and said she wanted to sign up to sell it! This is where I picked up my feet and decided this was too great an opportunity to pass up. I was not even TRYING to sell anything, much less recruit a team, and people loved this! Imagine the possibilities if I were to put a little effort into this venture! I began incorporating Scentsy into everything I did. I took Scentsy products with me to my kids’ doctor appointments, sports practices, church – anywhere I thought I could share Scentsy. Most of the time, just having something (anything) Scentsy with me intrigued others and they would approach ME! That first month, I recruited 5 other consultants. After realizing the opportunities this business was bringing into my life, I decided to expand globally, and I’m proud to say I now have wonderful friends and team members in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and even Australia! In October of 2014, I reached the top of our Compensation Plan and earned my Super Star Director title. If I could do so much with my original tiny little expectations, imagine the possibilities this business could bring into your life! I gave up my dream of earning a Pink Cadillac with that unnamed cosmetics company, which turned out to be the best decision I could have made. I absolutely LOVE what I do now, and I would honestly do this for free. It's a great product, the owners listen to our suggestions and respond to our needs as consultants, and the opportunities for growth are virtually limitless. I have numerous benefits (health insurance, scholarships, free products, vacations) and perhaps the most rewarding aspect is the relationships I have been able to build and foster around the world. I LOVE SCENTSY and my only regret is that I didn't discover this business opportunity sooner!
